This is a hard one for me to write.
Coming from someone who loved Nelson Tethers Puzzle Agent, writing this review is a bummer.
From the very millisecond that the first game ended, I was rabid for the sequel.
Eons went by before it was delivered, and when it was, I bought it INSTANTLY. I rushed home, and my wife and I sat down to play it, and we pounded through it in one sitting, which is fine. But the magic... The MAGIC! Where was it?
I’ll tell you where it was. It was 100% gone.
Well, OK, 90% gone. The voice acting was still top notch. And the art was charming.
But everything else about this game took a giant pooper scooper.
The story made no sense. The ambience from the first game was dropped. The puzzles were rote and incredibly easy.
In short, Puzzle Agent 2, I’m sad to admit, felt like a complete rush job.
In fact, I’m so saddened by this fact that I don’t think I can even continue to write this review.
The best piece of advice I can give to you is this: Go and buy the first game. Buy it multiple times. It is fantastic!
Never play this one. Just let the cliff hanger from the first game hang. It’s better off that way.
